Why is it worthwhile to become a volunteer?

In order to answer this question, we need to understand who a volunteer is. Maybe this is a person who just likes to help people, as they say, his mother taught him when he was a child. Maybe he wants to unselfishly help and thereby repay for the help previously provided to himself. Or maybe this is a person who became a volunteer in order to fulfill himself or to satisfy the need to feel good and needed? There are many variations, and yet most people agree: a volunteer is a person who helps those who need it, without compensation.

It is worth noting right away that being a volunteer means going outside of your normal routine, meeting different people, and helping them, often in unusual (sometimes even dangerous) circumstances. Many people may immediately ask: why change your life, your habits, endure inconveniences, overcome difficulties, why become a volunteer and help someone at all?

There are several reasons to think about how important it is nowadays to be able, and most importantly, to want to help others. First, we should not forget that there are always those around us who need help: a neighbor, a friend, parents, an elderly person in transportation, a shelter for homeless animals, elderly people in nursing homes, disabled children. All of them may not only need our attention, but also our care, and if we have the opportunity, we should help. Secondly, it is said not in vain that goodness cannot be taught, it can only be instilled. And this is true, because a child who sees that his parents help someone, share what they have, in the future will himself provide help to those in need and consider it is not something unusual, but completely natural. Thirdly, volunteering is always interesting. You get a chance to meet different people, share experiences, learn a little more about our world.

Volunteer is a soldier of a huge army of good, accepting into its ranks every day more and more caring people who are ready to change this world for the better. I hope that after reading these lines, someone will think about it, someone will want to try, and someone will realize that he or she did not become a volunteer for nothing and has been helping the needy for many years. Becoming a volunteer is easy, the main thing is a selfless and noble desire to help!
